Click January 2009: Red - Ayam Goreng Pedas

>> Wednesday, January 21, 2009

After couple of month hiatus, now Click, a theme-based photo contest, is back. For opening the new year, Jai and Bee from Jugalbandi, founders of Click, has chosen Red as the theme. Before I was sick, I already had some idea for this event, but unfortunately though now I'm feeling better, I don't have enough time to realize it. I still have to catch up to read some scripts needed for my study and it's driven me crazy. You know, those engineering text-books make me sleepy. No wonder I am so late in finishing my study *smile*

When I checked out my photo folder, I found some food photos (from the same dish) that I haven't published yet. It was my (almost) everyday meal in Jakarta. The whole family love it very much and never get bored of it. See, how my mother has magic in her hands. The one below was already modified by me after some trial and error to make it identical with mom's.

It called: Ayam Goreng Pedas (Hot and Spicy Fried Chicken) or some people will say it "Ayam Balado". Funny thing in our family, though we are originally from West Sumatra that has made "balado" a popular name for every dish with hot and chili sauce (like above photo), but we never said it as balado. We just simply said it "Ayam Goreng Pedas" (ayam goreng = fried chicken ; pedas = hot).

The recipe will be posted soon.
